Mind-Body Somatic Therapy

Books like “The Body Keeps the Score,” by Bessel van der Kolk and “When the Body Says No,” by Gabor Maté explore the connection between our experiences and how they are stored in the body. Somatic therapy focuses on this connection, helping us reconnect with our inner world by honoring the body’s wisdom. Unlike traditional “top-down” talk therapy, which focuses on thoughts and behaviors, somatic therapy uses a “bottom-up” approach, engaging the body to facilitate healing. With growing knowledge of the gut-brain connection, this integrative approach fosters deeper recovery. EMDR is one form of somatic therapy.
